NIS Flipped Classroom Model

With Advanced Education, the Flipped Classroom methodology is applied in all core subjects from G3-G12. For homework, students screen 5-10 minutes of a tailored, pre-recorded green screen/glass screen instructional video [featuring their very own teachers] on the following week’s topic. They are given six (6) guiding questions to prepare.
These questions are tiered to Bloom’s Taxonomy’s 1st tier, recalling.

Questions like “What are we going to do, today?” have become virtually unspoken by students of Advanced Education.They have no need to ask them. They know — and are preparing themselves for what is to come.

At its core, the Flipped Classroom is a “pedagogical approach in which direct instruction moves from the group learning space to the individual learning space, and the resulting group space is transformed into a dynamic, interactive learning environment where the educator guides students as they apply concepts and engage creatively in the subject matter” (The Flipped Learning Network, 2014)
